some months ago i took my truck to Chyrslegr concerning my 20 inch chrome rims....around the outer lip, corrosion had started....truck was not even one year old and had less then 30,000km

Chrysler refused to replace the rims sayinng that the rims are covered under warrenty only up to 20,000km......finding that odd, i went through all my paperwork (including the warrenty papers) which i signed at the time i bought the truck.....no where did it state that rims fell under a seperate warrenty.....infact i had extended my warrenty to 100,000km (from 60,000km)

so, i decided to take Chrysler to court......today i got a letter in the mail which said Chrysler would be more then happy replace my rims and that i can take my truck to the nearest dealership to bring this matter to a close.

the regional manager for Chrsyler came out to meet me at the dealership, he took some pics of the truck and rims and said he will get back to me somtime next week and schedule a time for the rims to be replaced

:D

heres some pics of the corroded rims

mannnnnn those are curb rashes... esp the last picture

ummm...no :o curbs dont reach around aluminium lips and corrode the rim inside and out....the rubber on the rear tire was removed and corrosion spots are visible on the inside too....the tire had gotton so bad that it had to be taken off and replaced by the full size spare tire because the orginal rim had lost its balance and caused vibrations on the highway

lol thats what i thought initially but a manafacturer could not possible be that dumb to confuse corrosion with gutter rash. well done dude!!!!, but all this just enforces the stereo type that american cars are of shit build quality.

From my extensive experience in law, via Law & Order...

I would say you had them by the balls and should've held out for more.

perhaps, but im happy with 4 new rims....its all i wanted from the beginning

my main ammunition was that i had gotton in writing from a dealership in Michigan that they had replaced 6 sets of chrome rims on some of there dodge rams due to similiar corrosion...i guess i was the first case in Canada (or the first one succesful in getting chrysler to replace the rims)

ive driven nissan and toyota pick ups in the bush for work...and they just fell apart.....i actually found the Fords really soild...but i like the look of dodges so i went with Dodge

hopefully american automakers can bring better quality in cars back to the table
