Indians by the thousands are descending on a remote village in eastern West Bengal to worship a man who scampers up trees, gobbles up bananas and has a "tail."
They believe he is a reincarnation of the Hindu monkey god Hanuman and that his 13-inch tail has healing powers.
"But he is no god and his [tail] is just a congenital defect," according to local medical officials.
Any other reports of this?

Hindus will believe a lot especially in remote parts where they are less well educated. I doubt this. Not to say that the more educated won't believe it but generally more educated people tend to have more secular beliefs.

I was thinking the same. Also it's unlikely that his 13" "tail" has any healing powers. I wonder if he can wag it to and fro, like a doggy.

even lets assume for a second that his tail is real why is he up on the trees and chucking bananas ? does HE think HE is a reincarnation of Hanuman?

hay I saw that on the net, go to smashits.com, and they have a video abt it, I dont remember the exact link. But yea there's is a kid with monkey shaped arms and legs and also has a tail. ppl from all over come to see him, and they also give him money and food. Sick ppl come to take his blessings, hoping it will cure them. However, medical science says that its a rare case, its not a maricle or something spritual but its a bone defect and he can be treated. But the family dont want him to get treated. The boy is lil, probably abt 2 yrs or something.

Bullshit... the mere term "god" means that you have left the cycle of reincarnation...
God CAN NOT be reincarnated.

the baby is born into the muslim religion, but you cannot associate any religion with this baby, until he accepts and chooses a faith of his free will. It doesnt make sense to me how ppl associate a religion with a kid who can barely walk or talk. It doesnt matter if you are baptized as a toddler or if they say azan in your ears when you are born, you still have to choose a religion out of your own free preference.
