question for fellow Hindu brothers

Is it OK if I make you a brother based upon our religion? Is it OK if we consider anyone else non-brothers? How should we treat the non-believers? Give me ideas.

just because you respect someone doesn't mean you accept their beliefs.
at the end of the day religion is not a set of rules a but a way of life to improve ones self! if you want to obey the rules and be plain bastard then that defeats the purpose

no it means anyone whose non muslim. just as anyone who doesn't smoke is called a non-smoker.

I believe people use that word waaaay too loosely....

Kafir = disbeliever.....from what I have been taught it relates to Atheists...i.e. people who don't believe in God!

Other words are Ahlul-Kitab = People of the Book, referring to Jews and Christians...

Its just a word to describe a certain group of people....I agree some people use it in a derogatory way. However, In Islamic practices, being an Atheist (and even until recently in the West) is not exactly a nice term in itself.....
