Who here agrees? When a person has started a religious thread (doesn't matter if it is positive/negative) should be banned?
Note: this is a general opinion poll!

DesiTrix, have you read the current rule? A lot of members who feel heroic about protecting religion havent even read the rules of the board. Trust me, tmrw you won't even care.

It is true that when a religious thread is started, some people seem to be out just to slander each other’s faiths. It does not seem that many people are out to have genuinely healthy debates, and some threads are started specifically to cause controversy. But that’s what our modern culture seems to have become like now. We seem to thrive off controversy. Banning religious threads outright is not a good idea. Bottling up people’s opinions about other people and their ideas is not a healthy thing to do. People need to be allowed to express their opinions freely. But on the other hand, it might be an idea to have threads dedicated specifically to ‘serious religious debates’ in which people can have ‘genuine’ dialogue, as well as keeping the other threads, since I wouldn’t want to contradict what I just said earlier about it not being a good idea, and it seems like the democratic/free speech/ right thing to do. Plus, like I said, everybody loves a bit of controversy now and then. Even me, and low and be hold, I am a Muslim, and some of these threads ‘seem’ to be mainly aimed at expressing peoples grievances with Islam (the key word in that sentence was SEEM, not ARE, which was not even in the sentence LOL). But please people, lets try and keep these debates on an intellectual level at least, if we can.

the problem is most of the threads dont START as religion bashing threads or even religion based, but turn into them half way through

Freedom of speech does not apply to privately-run property, such as message boards.

when you do start killing freedom of speech here, you will kill off the site. these desi sites are only as good as they have members. people will just move to a place where there is less admin control. both the good and bad posters.

Fuck banning them. Even if it offends anyone and gets out of control it can be junked or deleted. People need to stop being such pussies nowadays.
