I went to see the Da Vinci Code. Before going into the theatre, the audience received this special annoucement. The coming attraction of "World Trade Center" starring......Nicholas Cage and Maggie Gyllenhal would be preceding the feature film. This was said just in case it was too much for people to handle . Well, it tells the story of two firemen who go through drastic lengths to save as many lives before the buildings collapsed. Not very optimistic from what is shown..just really sad.
The film comes out in August and I was just wondering if anyone is planning on seeing it & what are your throughts or reactions after seeing it? Do you think its too early or the perfect time depict 9/11 with such films as United 93? and preferably to New yorkers, how do you feel about reliving that experience?
Some reporters have said recently, "GET OVER IT!"(hmm, sounds vaguely familar). As they shout out these three words i think to myself, "are they kidding me? thousands of people lost their families that day.. it was a horrific terrorism event and they want people to get over it??? Unbelievable!" I see that apathy is still quite prevalent here in the U.S. , espcecially on media coverage such as O'reilly(who happens to be the rudest host i have ever seen on national new television broadcast). I remember this man telling some kid to get over his father's death after he was killed in the iraqi war. Amazingly enough, this guy is still on air, not to say he doesn't receive an abundance of hate mail but the fact that he can tell someone to get over it and not have the slightest bit of empathy, i find to be shocking!
