Peugeot 206 any day of the week, at least it'll still hold its value after a couple of years............... the clio will be worth peanuts and probably ready for the scrap heap within a year!...... renault...... shit cars! ;-)

honestly speaking, if you want value for money, with fairly good reliability and cheap replacement parts. Go fiesta. OK it has no image but thats the appeal. If you want to turn heads on a budget get that swatch golf cart thing.

I take it you're talking about Renault Clip Expression or the new version? And you are comparing that with the 206cc? Urrrm bit of a huge leap.

I like the new Renault clio proper stands out looks sleek. Plus, you have space in the car. The 206cc is squishy looks nice bit out of fashion though but value wise because it's convertible you won't lose out too much if you were to sell it in the near future.

If you want something reliable stick to German cars - long run it's worth it.

Ford cars are shit but then again what do you expect? British make! All in all don't always go for looks, go for something that performs well.

Never ever ever get a peugeot 206 ever...

Really, they're crap.

Get a clio but be careful - 2 mates of mine have had issues with their air bags... french cars usually are shite in electronics etc...

ImmyG's right - the fiesta is one of the nicer cars out there... great chassis but underpowered - even the fiesta ST's 2 litre feels like it could have a lot more out of it!

150bhp? pah... the same engine can get over 170bhp n/a and 212bhp + with turbo

Don't listen to this person... Moronity at its best:

Ford are American.
European Fords are european designed and manufactured - hell, the Focus ST was engineered and tested in Germany.

Ford cars are also more reliable than BMWs and Mercs (see www.reliabilityindex.co.uk) and if you want some real info, please ignore women.

whats wrong with a mark 2?

every single one of my friends bought brand spanking new cars when they passed their tests but i got my brothers mark 2..it has never ever broken down (even after ive told people this) yet their cars have..its a very reliable car and it drives like a dream.

Sorry, it's just my uncle's was a bit of a disaster... Mk1's were nicer but really unreliable!

I suppose a Mk2 isn't bad, in GTi form ;)

Still, as a first car, insurance needs to be cheap... in which case go French or Ford/Vauxhall.

If you want reliabilty, go japanese... Mazda tops reliablity index surveys.. Mazda 3 is a nice car.

Clio the better drivers car and feels better put together than a 206, but is a lot more unisex than a 206 CC... Men who drive 206 CCs should question a lot about themselves... :p

For a CC, the Focus CC and Volvo C70 CCs are nice ;)

i like the previous suggestion about a VW!...... go for a golf or a polo, and you'll never worry about reliability and safety!.......... (plus with a fat install in them they sound HEAVY!!!)............ (to do with the heavier body!)

definitely change your options and widen your horizons............. go for a vw!

fiesta had got cheaper insurance then the other cars. That's important when you are young.

Yeah skodas are good now. Just VW with a crap badge.

As for VWs. Yeah they are good but sooo overpriced. Like 20% than other cars in the range. Especially the golf.

I said "if you want" in general, to anybody :P

ZAKSTAR, I know you're a chick.. shh... I was just being devil's ARSEHOLE!

Areez_UK_HUSTLER - in the time my dad's Focus was (and still is after 6 yrs, touch wood) problem free:

1 mate's Golf's fuel is mashed
1 mate's Golf's windows dropped randomly at the lights
1 mate's Polo had to be sent back due to it being crappy, and his other polo courtesy car (AND the Golf GTi courtesy car they gave him cos he was really pissed off by then) ALL had problems...

Oh, and VW are not as high as Ford in the Reliablity Index either....

In fact, Skodas (VW's with crap badges?) actually fare better in reliablity stakes... Imagine that!
