so today i parked my car and like my key would not come out ...no matter how hard i tried...then when i tried to turn on the engine since the key was still in the car the engine wouldn't fully turn on...so then i called my mom n she explained my wheels were locked n told me to turn my wheel all the way to the right n eventually my friend aliyah got my keys out......BUT when i came home and parker i swear i just parker didn't touch the wheel...the same thing happend but luckily this time when i tried to turn the engine on it worked so i reversed like an inch...parked and my keys came out.....

why is this happening? do i need to go to the shop bc i gotta go out again n what if it happens EVERY time i park?

btw if u need to know i drive a civic

well for one the turning on of the car not working could be cuz u accidentally turned the steering wheel and it goes into a theft lock where the key has to unlock it. most cars u turn the key backwards and it should let out. i know on Toyota's and Fords, the key wont come out unless the trans is in Park if the car has been turned off. never really had any such experience with Honda products so that may be the other thing. if not your key is sticking, i say take it to a dealer.

another question, did u ever loose a key and get one made at a place other than a dealer. cuz those have had incidents of locking up the steering wheels at not so safe times such as while driving.

i never lost my keys or got them remade...also i had to turn the wheel a certain way n wiggle the keys out...but the 2nd time i didn't move the wheel for it to lock n im scared to go out now.

are you sure park was fully engaged?? how old is the car, cuz it might just be the lock on the steering column, it might be going bad, that is a expensive as hell repair too :(

might just be a bad peice or maybe u got stuff stuck in it. i'd suggest open the steering column and take a look but that's wayy out of your league :P just take it to your dealer, have them look at it.

the foot break wouldn't budge at the times

did u push on it a bunch of times before cuz ur cylinder might have built pressure not makin it move, that's common for parked cars when the engine is off.

yeah that just builds up pressure so the pedal wont move, that's normal so no worries there

that is a normal thing as the car ages. The steering has a steering lock to prevent it from being driven without the key in the igniton. As it ages and you trun your car of the steering gets locked and the key is hard to take out all you have to do it turn the steering wheel either way and turn the key to the off position it should come out. If it gets worse you might need a new ignition lock cylinder and recode keys its pretty easy to do i could replace it for you but then your not in VA :)

oi shazoo, take out your owner's manual and see what it has to say about it's theft locking mechanism

well i went yday n like my key came out like normal n i was like wow this is great n the guy talked to another guy n he said since my key isn't being jammed anymore and there's no sign of a struggle with my key then i should just bring it back to the dealership when it gives me issues again...thank god it's been working fine since..i must've looked like a crazy desi bitch i felt SOO STUPID
