When dating though, you are not dating a number but rather a person so I see a lot of mixed height couples (with the girl about the same size as or bigger than the guy). If you are worried about how a person looks in comparison to you (a shorter guy for instance), you are dealing with other people's perceptions and not anything that is worthy of affecting your relationship.

If you enjoy dating taller guys because of an association with your brother who is tall or an early boyfriend who was tall, etc. that is something perfectly reasonable.

While I have my little crushes on short girls (Kristen Bell for instance), in real life I date girls about my height because it feels "equal" and I always like to start things equal, even if height is not a conscious factor.
