View Full Version : do you want to take part in a virtual stock market league?
reaz
March 16th, 2006, 10:11 PM
I am thinking about creating a league in a virtual stock exchange website. We start off with $100,000 and invest over a long period of time (this is in the air). What this does is that it motivates interested members to observe and study the stock market.
Would you potential investors be interested? You can be a long term investor or a day trader.. No real money involved. Just some time and interest.
Use the information and directions below to join the game.

I havent decided which site. It will most probably be vse.marketwatch.com
I like clearstation but I am trying to find out if they have a league system. Basically the idea of a league introduces some competition and so people will be keen to make more trades and study a bit more.
The money will be pretend dollars ofcourse. Long period of time would mean upto 3 years even. After all the market changes moods so often you dont see results in years some times. All this depends on your marketting strategy.
You will be able to order any stock registered at wall street, that includes mutual funds as well.

Out of curiosity, what's your motivation in doing this? There are several sites out there for exactly something like this. In fact, I took part in one years ago when I was learning as well.
Btw - www.investopedia.com is a decent place to start for people that are interested in just learning.

Clearstation doesn't have a VSE League setup.
I'd go with vse.marketplace.com. :)

i already outlined that it's for fun and education. also it's not like i am creating a site for it. i'll be using one of those sites to create a RD league.
i've used investopedia. lots of info on that site. but the simulator is boring.

the game starts on 21st of march, i.e. this Tuesday and continues till 20th of March next year.
A year should be short enough to keep the users interested. And long enough for long term investors to try out their investing methods.

average volume means how many shares trade on average of that stock per day. eps is earnings per share and it can be negetive if the company lost money during the quarter.
