this is a desi forum. lots of people here would rather watch SRK running around trees than watch a superior hollywood movie.
i was watching dodgeball today, again...and you know what i realized?
there are cliches in Hollywood too, people!
there's the good guy, the bad guy, the girl they both want, a goal in which one comes out a winner, and a throng of other characters that surround the main ones that each have their own distinct funny attributes
no i don't know what you see this as, but i see a bollywood movie in disguise (minus the song and dance)
most of the commedies made have the same sort of backdrop, so why criticize bollywood for churning out the same things over and over again? hollywood does it too!

Koi Mil Gaya is a desi ET, BLACK is a remake of the helen keller story, and plus SO much more.
every other movie made in india is a rip off of american movies. but bollywood is even more dishonest because they regret to tell u this. fortunately ABCD's that see this are outting the bollywood industry.
and bollywood has no originality at all. how many times do we have to see scenes where the heroine cries in the rain. rain=tears. wow... how original. NOT!
if we were to go back to the good old days of sholay, awara, and pakeeza... now THAT is original hindi filmmaking. all the newer stuff is just crap.

Titanic was filled with Bollywood clichés (bar the sudden singing/dancing and a fairy-tale ending)....just like many other romantic English flicks...but like Pooja mentioned, Bollywood's biggest weakness stems from its lack of creative scripts.

FUCK BOLLYWOOD :Pissed:
Hollywood might have cliches, but at least they have people who can ACT.
At least Hollywood is original....while Bollywood just copies off of Hollywood in order to make a lame ass attempt of talent they will never have.

well, it's true bollywood does put out the same shit in different package alot but when they do release some different type of movie it doesn't really get any attention or appreciation so they are gonna keep putting out the type of movies most people want to watch.

they only watch the same kind because thats the only kind they know, if u keep experimenting and putting out something different eventually ppl r gunna break outta their shell and watch it

yea, dude, dont even TRY to compare Bollywood to Hollywood becuz Hollywood will blow it out of the water any day. Yes, Bollywood does turn out the rare gem, and I acknowlege it when they do. but the ratio is something like 1:50.
get sum writers who can write
get some actors/actresses who just aren't pretty faces (come on, bollywood actresses are beauty pageant winners? are there no acting schools in india?)
and delve into other genres. spice it up, show variety.
