Most South American sides in the draw have potential to spring a few shocks, but I don't think Paraguay will topple either England or Sweden.

I think the sambamen will eat kangaroo meat in that fixture.
Argentina v Holland is easily the pick on paper, think it'll be another 3-2, I say to the Argies.
Italy v Czech Republic isn't bad either

The only chance they've got is to play with high energy and passion, of which helped Korea, and the US in the last world cup.

Its possible that Croatia could go through instead of Japan..The game they play between each other will probably be the key, as both should lose to Brazil, and beat Costa Rica..And Iran..maybe they'll beat Angola lol.

yeah, but Brazil did struggle with both japan and croatia, tieing with them twice, recently 2:2 with japan in confederations cup and 1:1 in august. the both have really good chances of maybe even toppling Brazil. Although when Brazil needs to win, they often do.

hmm its tru any team can cause upsets...but the friendly games and confed cups dont really matter, since theyr both experimental games, during the WC, the real sides come to play...
i mean, even brazil can lose to any team in friendlies, but wen it comes down to the real thing, brazil is jus simply not goin to play any sloppy game.
if we look back last WC, poland was tipped as darkhorse since they had strong qualifiers campaign and havnet lost any friendly match prior to the WC, but look wat happned in actual tournament, they finished last of their group.

Portugal did horrible in the last world cup, I'm surprised you put Mexico as being runner ups in Group D, since Angola and Iran have shown a strong showing this year while Mexico has been weak.
Also, in Group E, you put up the Czech Republic as being the main team to qualify, yet you forget that the USA, is the sixth best team in the world right now. I would have put Italy first, USA as runner ups from that group.
I cant predict anythiong from Group F, except that Brazil would probably be first to qualify, but the oother 3 teams are evenly matched up.
Group G, you're underestimating Togo.
Other than that, everything seems good, Its gonna be a fun WC :) not as fun as the last one tho

Mexico aren't the strongest, and Portugal are inconsistent. Still would expect Portugal to get the better of the paritcular opposition in that group. Who do you think will finish 1st/2nd in that group?
Also, in Group E, you put up the Czech Republic as being the main team to qualify, yet you forget that the USA, is the sixth best team in the world right now. I would have put Italy first, USA as runner ups from that group.
USA are only the sixth best team because of the opposition they have to face to qualify. They aren't on the level of quite a lot of teams, sixth in the world is a joke as most would agree, even Mexico are up there ffs. Italy should win that group, but I fancy the Czech Republic ot nick it, with Italy stuttering in at least one fixture.

just cuz portugal did horrible last worldcup it doesn't mean they'll do bad this time. MExico has been doing pretty fine this year, i dont know what your talking about. they may have lost to the US and Costa Rica, but they were able to beat Brazil twice this year (3 times if you count the sub-17 world cup finals. and thats why i hate them so much). the USA may be the 6th best, but lets see why. does the US go vs France? England? Spain? heck do they even go against Romania? Greece? or latvia? they tied with n. ireland for goodness sake. they may be 6th but thats because they gain points by beating easier teams in their region. Italy is what, in 10th or 11th? but that doesn't mean they dont have world-class players capable of redeeming the counrty's pride. and even then, Czech is 2nd best in the world...i do agree with you with everything else, angola and Iran are dark horses in my opinion, Iran having done very well in the olympics if I can recall.

Mexico has been weak this year. Iran has a better chance than Mexico since many of their players have had the experience of playing in the European leagues. They're in pretty good shape, so instead of Mexico I think Iran has a better chance, unless Angola surprises us all. However, I still think Portugal is the powerhouse of this group, its just that they can falter.
USA are only the sixth best team because of the opposition they have to face to qualify. No doubt Italy is not going to do so great, the US did pretty good in the last WC which is why I think they might qualify the first round. I think both Czech Republic and USA are evenly matched in this round, then again if Ghana does well, I'll be surprised, after all, Senegal surprised everyone last time with their strong showing against France last time.
So you think they'll qualify?
I think they have a pretty good chance
Have to wait and see
That we will :dance3:
The las WC was exciting because it was the year of the under-dogs, most of the best teams were beat, but we'll have to see this time.

Mexico has won most of their games on home soil. They've been doing 'okay' this year. Sub-17 players wont be participating in the WC, which is why I think their international squad wont be as strong. The US beat Portugal in the last WC, of course one of the goals was a given, they had a strong showing the last time. Their international squad is a lot better, because the time they played N. Ireland, most of their players were in the European league. Sure, they're not the best, but they have a good chance. It was Iraq, not Iran in the WC. Iran is a stronger team though, and Angola have played some excellent futbol this year.

when you wrote this, did you do some research or did you already have all this in your head? bigger football freak then me... jk
anyway, Mexico has been doing ok, but i still dont like the USA and i will never recognize them as a soccer superpower because 1) AMerica is already good at everythings, and 2) they came out of nowhere ( i was laughing at their horrible techniques just 6 years ago, what happened?) . i believe the fifa-coka cola rankings are a bit inaccurate as Italy has a superior team, but because of the goals they lack against harder teams, they get lesser points. oops, Iraq, Iran, my bad and i haven't seen angola play but i've heard lots of hype. because im relatively poor, i haven't seen many european games lately. watcha think about serbia and montenegro. i can only judge from the scorecards and statistics only :( and i think they'r the dark horses, or maybe Iran...what group are they in? group D, i think they could make it. i've heard they're a really strong asian team, they might end up like senegal back in 'o2.although i'll obviously be rooting for my home country Brazil, i hope next year is full of surprises.

haha, i feel lonely here in the US being one of the few football freaks here. I agree with you that the US IS NOT a superior team. Italy is a power house in football. I too haven't seen alot of European games, I've just read about them from experts and watched clips from some of their games (since American football takes up all the channels here in the US). From what I know, Serbia and Montenegro have a good offense, some of their players are tall and are fast runners which has been an advantage for them. Iran is an Asian powerhouse, they've come a long way and many of their players have an experience playing in Europe which is their advantage. They've got some excellent skills and are well organized which is an advantage for them as well. I'm hoping that this WC is gonna be exciting as well, hopefully more than the last one :)

they are impressive, but the main problem they all share is that they all try to hogg the ball. They play too much individual soccer as opposed rather than as a team, they didnt pass as much as they could have, and if they had done that, they could have made more goals.
But they play their sport very artistically, I like it

They seem to have a lot of power and a fair bit of pace too, good raw attributes to have. I think the technical side is missing a bit at present. They're good at getting to the final third of the pitch, but seldom take advantage of good situations.

There will be sick games tommorow... I want Italy to lose though because I hate their fans, they are too cocky those people... but Italy played real good against Ghana, you should've seen them.
Italy are the worst losers in world football.
Ghana represented the overall improvement in performance from the African teams as a whole..BUT..their organisation from set-plays etc was shocking.

I'm no Italian fan but I dunno wat you're talking about, Italian strikers are fast and the Italians are well organized and very skillful with the ball.

I'm not saying the Italians weren't organised, and incisive. Before the goal went in however, Ghana did surprise quite a few by taking the game to the Italians for a long period of time, and with a little more quality in the final third could have easily been ahead.
They could have also quite easily had a penalty to square the game up.

I can agree to that, the Ghaneans were consistent and their attacks were surprising and their speed was amazing, but they weren't organized as well on the defensive level and they wouldnt pass as much or wouldnt pass in an cooperative way.
They deserved that penalty shot and could have equalized the game.

You know what pissess me off about England...why Steven Gerrard's England career is being ruined by playing Lumplard further up the field. Brazil don't play Kaka in defensive midfield to accomodate Ronaldinho do they.

The most impressive thing about the British victory yesterday was how the didn't start crying. I swear to God up to the 82nd minute it seemed as if at any minute they were going to start bawling their eyes out, you could just sense the relief when they got the first goal.

Lampard is a good but overrated player. Gerrard is far superior and is suffering because his defensive abilities are far superior to Lampard's. If England had a holding player and Gerrard played further forward England would have a much more balanced side. Problem is that if lampard doesn't score, he does feck all.
Crouchy has been arguably England's best player in the opening two games.

I disagree with that...he missed so many chances and just scored that one goal in last game...the only advantage he has is his height ..nothing else as far as i see

So how many played better than him over the two games?... he brought others into play, worked doggedly and saved England's arse.
Anyway back to my main point, Lumplard should be dropped, or the formation should be altered so that Gerrard plays just as advanced as him.

Gerrard already has two goals in this tourny, and wasn't given the license you're referring too...he was still back helping out Carrick, whilst all Lumplard did was stand there, and wait for the ball to fall his way, blazing it anywhere but the net.
If he doesn't score, Lumplard offers hardly anything to the team.

um we have tiago, maniche & petit who are all holding midfileders, figo is still there and ronaldo has not been ruled out. hugo viana can come off the bench. in attack we still have simao, pauleta, postiga & boa morte... there is depth in the squad. theyve been playing together now under the same coach with the same squad for over 2 years and they have incorporated a hard tackling charecteristic into their game. on attack they are still the free flowing portugal we know from euro 2000
