There is no such thing as the word of God.
Just the words of men that are passed off as divine scripture.

I don't think God can make mistakes, but I believe the religious books that were made by men (this includes the Bible and the Qu'aran) are chock full of mistakes and man-made rules.

Anyway, you won't find too many learned Christians on here so try some other site. There are a fair many Christian/Islamic forums where you'll find plenty of good debate - do not look to RateDesi for a theological (or anything logical :/) debate.

some of the bible is probably correct, most likely the old testament. But keep in mind that the bible was written well after Jesus's death, so the true Gospel of Jesus which he spoke does not exist today.

Don’t Judge Islam because of me first thing and second Muslims respect Jew's as Well as Christians as they are the people of the book so don’t try to make up crap saying I don’t respect your religions becuse it is part of my faith to respect your religion.
Second before debating about ny subject have an open mind because half you people do not even no how to debate Because your arguments are flawed and once I show you contradictions ,if you don’t believe me go do your own research and if you think I’m making it up go ask a R.E teacher that no's about religion don’t have to be a Muslim , and then make up your mind but just be open minded

no.
Islam does not encourage respect to idolaters.
at all.
if anything it discourages respecting them.
Christianity and Judaism, yes.
Hinduism or Buddhism?
no way.
Ofcourse, some Muslims will say that Islam encourages Muslims to respect *all* faiths, but that simply isnt true, at all. Any Muslim who does respect idolatrous faiths does so out of human compassion, common sense, or just through a good nature, which runs contrary to the tone of disgust that the Quran takes towards idolaters.

see thats the problem, you want to debate hardcore christians. for what to show them their Bible is error filled.even if you win a debate on this a hardcore christian will not leave and become a muslim. thats why they are hardcore. So if you want to debate a liberal christian, they would first aggree that the Bible has mistakes, therefore making your attempt to prove the falsity of the Bible to them pointless. So just do what you really want to do an call the Bible false, and the Quran the Truth. no need to call it a debate.

hello well i guess ill share my views on this topic .. . im muslim and a firm believer im not orthodox tho b/c islam isnt about being orthodox its a modest religion and its stated in the quran that god wants to make religion easy for us ,because we r not perfect, and before i say anything i believe that religion is a very general and wide thing whenever religion becomes too specific (it cannot be applied to society as a whole) or tainted it is because of human fabrications, which in islam is in the form of hadiths, but thats another topic, the Torah, and The Bible r words of god and if u really sit and think all the prophets Moses, Noah, Jesus, and even Muhammad brought the same message, to believe in one god, monotheism, and Jesus' arrival was predicted in the Torah calling him the messiah, not son of god(Jews and muslims disagree with Christians here b/c they exalted a prophet to the rank of a God), but Jews dont condider him the messiah (muslims do), all of gods prophets were sent by God and brought the same message, All of the religious scriptures have such uniformity (10 commandments also in the Quran) so i guess there is a God, the bible has contradictions because of priests and people that re-write the words of God, every yr theres a new version of the Bible and all the stories have multiple versions, same with hadiths, they have been tampered with by men, and the Quran which muslims believe to be God's final message to humanity does not have new versions and if u take a copy of the Quran now and compare it to one printed 50, 60, or even a 100 yrs ago u will not find changes or duplicity in the message, thats why even when translated the original arabic text/message is always there, god had promised that his last and final message would not be tampered with, thats what muslims believe, and i do believe that the torah and the bible r works of god, but they have been tampered with, and confusions does not come form god it comes from humans, humans like to add extra rules and mold religion to conform to their needs, sorry if ive offended anyone . .. nice topic, we should always reflect before we believe in something, that is why god has given us a mind and to determine what is wrong and what is right and we should use that gift

yea well think about it, its not been tampered with, its restates the original message of jesus, noah, moses etc, it has uniformity, it has scientific facts that could not have possibly been known at the time, why wouldnt it be divine, god has given us a brain and on the day of reckoning he will ask us how we used our knowledge to get closer to him, im not here to preach or convert just my way of looking at it, u cant just have faith because someone says " just believe and have faith" that is blind faith, u need to research and ask questions, and as for polytheistic religions they just seem like myths to me like the greek myths and gods often resemble humans and have human characteristics, God the almighty who created us is above all that he is above jealousy, greed, and he does not need a son, there is one god which is why there is harmony in the universe, if there were multiple god there would be multiple opinions and the world would be in chaos, it all depends on how u look at it with an open mind and u will arrive at the right conclusion, i whole heartedly believe that the Quran along with the bible and Torah (even tho the previous two have been tampered with) are divine scriptures that brought the same message. May god guide us all . .. .

well, i don't buy any religious doctrine as divine. Bible and torah included.
Also there are people that refute the scientific facts in the Quran being discover there first. some scholars say it borrows heavily for greek scientific work. also, unless the orginal quran is availble for study, no one can prove it has not been tampered with. the orginal is claimed to be God's work, not the ones mad a hundred years ago.

ok so first off u said u wont buy any religious doctrine, even tho all of those doctrine r uniform and bring the same message to humanity . . .the belief in one god, if u dont buy the abrahamic faiths what may i ask do u believe in? if u dont believe the idea of one almighty God who sends messages to humanity to do good deeds so they can attain salvation what do u believe in? r u an atheist? that would explain a lot i guess, . . .antagonist? polytheist? u still havent specified what it is u believe in and why u believe in it. And what scientific facts have been refuted? And if scientific facts such as the state of the fetus, plurality of worlds, male and female gender of plants, were already discovered by the greeks we would have known and attributed a lot of modern science to the greeks instead of recent scientists, and they didnt have scientific instruments such as microscopes to affirm or even learn of these scientific facts, only God can send what is not known, furthermore 100yrs+ old versions of the quran r available in musems and ppl still to this day own old copies, everytime the Quran is printed it is printed in that original arabic text, and it is from that text that translations r made and that text is always present right next to the translations, there r no new revised, edited versions of the Quran like there r of the bible, can u take a copy of the bible and compare it to one of even 20 yrs ago and find no changes? just yesterday i was speaking to my biology teacher who used to go to teach the bible to some students, and he told me about how there was plurality to one of the verses he was reciting to them and the minister gave him the one he thought was the original one . . .and if u wont believe in DIVINE scriptures sent from God himself to humans who had no reason to be persecuted and killed other than for the love of god, then surely if u want to take a scientific view on the existence of god u can, because religion and science r not mutually exclusive, the earth the setting of the sun, the seasons, the plurality of worlds, the birth of human beings time and time again isnt by some accident, life is not an accident, what is the probabality that an accident can produce such orderly results? Think about it use the brain, which is one of them most complex organs on the earth, a god given gift to humans because he knows we will be in doubt about him, to search for the truth u will find it if it is in ur capacity to learn. May God guide us all

Humans were given the responsibility to protect the words of god but they didnt, they changed them to conform their religion to their needs, god tests us in all ways and gives us responsibilites, and after the Bible the Quran was sent, and that hasnt been changed, and dont confuse the Quran with the teachings of the prophet those r different and not of god, they r changed which is why islam has sects now, u need to research everything before u come to a conclusion, but i can understand y some ppl r so confused so many religions have been corrupted after god has sent down his clear messages, its sad, but god is there and only he can guide

If God is perfect He wouldn't have to "send another book" down to Earth, he would have gotten it right the first time. Also, how do you know the Qu'aran has never changed? Not one word, not one letter? Because some people swear up and down it never has?
Did you know that if you scribble down 5 pages by hand, there is almost a 100% chance that you'll make 1 or 2 typos?
Now imagine the 600th century AD... and imagine men scribbling down the Qu'aran over and over again by hand, over the centuries, at least until the printing press was invented. Which wasn't that long ago, reletively speaking.
Peopl can say how "the word of the Qu'aran has never ever ever been written down wrong!" all they want, and I'm not going to call them a lier or anything, but there is no chance in the world that it hasn't had at least 1 typo in it in 1400 years. And I bet its had more then that, but I'm just pointing that out for the argument of people saying it has never had anything changed/no typos etc.
I'd say the same thing for the Bible, as well.

The Quran isn't word of man....these verses were brought down to an illiterate man Mohammed (PBUH) from God Via Angel Jibrael. Thats wot meks it so great...Mohammed (PBUH) could neva have made up the Quran due to him not knowing how to read or write. :dance3:

God is perfect man is not, and since man has the burden of free will God must test man, which is why they were given the responsibilities of protecting the book, if u apply that to a broader scale we r alive because this life is a test, if ur saying y did god send down books when he knew his religion would be disorted is like saying why did god give man life when he knows some ppl will not believe in him? so he can use our actions to judge us accordingly and he will tell us where we went wrong, and ur very right if u scribble down 500 hundered words ur bound to have a typo, and typos and irregularities increase over time, however as far as the Quran is concerned ive said it time and time again if u want to go buy two copies of the quran published in different yrs read for urself and try to find something that is a typo or mistakes, since u r claiming that u dont buy the fact that it had not been changed y dont u go to research it for urself, i dont believe that the quran has not been changed on the basis of ppl swearing up and down that it hasnt been changed, i believe it because ive read the Quran, ive read the Quran at my mosque which was published in 1960 and ive found no disparities in them, You cannot arrive to a conclusion without knowing the truth first so how about u backup ur claims?

So not only is the Q'uaran the word of God, you're saying that Arabic is the language of God too, because if he were illiterate, God would have had to give him the ability to scribble in Arabic. Why Arabic? Why not English? Or Hindi? Is there a reason for that too?
Nah, I'm happy that you believe in it and that's your right... but as far as I'm concerned it was a book made up by men, just like ever other book. I mean, we have absolutely *no* proof other then someone who's dead having told you "btw, Mohammed wrote the words of God while he was illiterate" having been passed down through the generations.
if I described any other situation the same way, people would go "Oh yeah, you're right, that's silly" but because its religion... once again it goes from "no way it could happen" to "its the Truth!"
Again, I'm glad you believe it because it makes you happy, but I think people in general put religion in a different catagory from everything else and make up excuses for it simply because it is religion.

Um, they had printing presses in the 1960's.
umm my point for bringing that one up was that even over a span of about 40 yrs the book hasnt changed while even though there were printing presses the bible sure didnt stay the same even over a span of 10 yrs . . .everyone just needs to open their eyes nature, water cycle, plants, the seasons, the orbits, the universe everything is orderly who has set this order? y do some cells grow while others do not? God is there and in the words of my biology teacher "religion and science r not mutually exclusive" and many scientists were ministers, god shows us because he knows were curious and we have doubts

And just because the Quran was brought down in arabic doesnt mean it is preferred by god or is the language of god, the bible and the torah were brought down in specific languages also, i mean it had to be brought down in a language right? The bible wasnt brought down in English, it too was brought down in an Armanian/Arabic language, and at that time arabic was vastly spoken, and im sure uve heard that many of the worlds languages have orginated from latin, and latin and arabic have the same roots, and spanish is extremely close to latin, alot of the languages of the earth have the same roots and the arabic language was well spread during that time, and arabic is a modern language which is still spoken today, and its easy to learn, and great importance isnt given to arabic because muslims believe it is the language of god it is because it is the language it was brought down in and its important to have the original text there to get the true meaning, but i know this wont affect u because even tho u have minimal knowldge of islam, and other religions, and havent researched ur facts before arriving at a conclusion, u r set on believing there is no god and that all these religions r works of men. Well all these men these prophets brought down messages and were called heretics because they did not follow the superior culture or relgions of their times. During Abrahams time ppl worshipped gods made of stone and if u didnt u would be an outcast what reason did he have to be excommunicated from his family, relatives and friends? What reason did Moses,Jesus and Muhammad have for risking their lives, listening to the angry words/threats of ppl and basically ruining their lives? Did they do it for an ulterior motive? money? no all these prophets were poor, they didnt ask for money on behalf of god, they lived tough lives with death at every moment, because they knew that angel Gabriel came to them from God, they all got the same message and spread the same message. May god guide us all.

Arabic and Latin were never spoken on a large scale.
Sanskrit pre-dates both of them, and is the 2nd oldest (I think) Indo-European language and one of the oldest languages still in existance.

ok so first off u said u wont buy any religious doctrine, even tho all of those doctrine r uniform and bring the same message to humanity . . .the belief in one god, if u dont buy the abrahamic faiths what may i ask do u believe in? if u dont believe the idea of one almighty God who sends messages to humanity to do good deeds so they can attain salvation what do u believe in? r u an atheist? that would explain a lot i guess, . . .antagonist? polytheist? u still havent specified what it is u believe in and why u believe in it. And what scientific facts have been refuted? And if scientific facts such as the state of the fetus, plurality of worlds, male and female gender of plants, were already discovered by the greeks we would have known and attributed a lot of modern science to the greeks instead of recent scientists, and they didnt have scientific instruments such as microscopes to affirm or even learn of these scientific facts, only God can send what is not known, furthermore 100yrs+ old versions of the quran r available in musems and ppl still to this day own old copies, everytime the Quran is printed it is printed in that original arabic text, and it is from that text that translations r made and that text is always present right next to the translations, there r no new revised, edited versions of the Quran like there r of the bible, can u take a copy of the bible and compare it to one of even 20 yrs ago and find no changes? just yesterday i was speaking to my biology teacher who used to go to teach the bible to some students, and he told me about how there was plurality to one of the verses he was reciting to them and the minister gave him the one he thought was the original one . . .and if u wont believe in DIVINE scriptures sent from God himself to humans had no rwho eason to be persecuted and killed other than for the love of god, then surely if u want to take a scientific view on the existence of god u can, because religion and science r not mutually exclusive, the earth the setting of the sun, the seasons, the plurality of worlds, the birth of human beings time and time again isnt by some accident, life is not an accident, what is the probabality that an accident can produce such orderly results? Think about it use the brain, which is one of them most complex organs on the earth, a god given gift to humans because he knows we will be in doubt about him, to search for the truth u will find it if it is in ur capacity to learn. May God guide us all
my religious views don't matter. I didn't say the Quran's scientific stuff was refuted, just borrow, therefore not making it something orginally from the Quran. also I am not saying the bible is consistant, I am saying that how can you prove that the Quran is. Where is the first Quran? what was in the orginal. if it was god's divine gift, how could it be lost or destroyed?
on a side note, I like the way you debate. there is not ill will in your discussion. bravo.

The roots of Arabic and Armenian/Greek/Latin languages r old and if u know anything of linguistics many languages r derived from Latin, also Arabic and Latin r spoken on a very large scale today . . .

also some FYI the Quran was revealed in arabic and it has stayed in arabic ,whenever there is a translation the original arabic text is always next to the translated words, and arabic has no dialect and its still a modern language in use today, and its different in the fact that if you change one word or misplace one letter in a word it totally changes the meaning of the word, each arabic letter is distinct and has markings like the letter "tau" which makes the "t" sound has 2 dots above it if u dont write down one dot it changes the meaning of the word, arabic does not have diff spellings for one word like english where centre and center r the same word, in the word baqarah, meaning "calf" , if u remove the "ah" u r left with baqar which means to be sick, so if an arabic sentence said "he killed the calf" and "ah" were to be removed it would mean "he killed the to be sick", it wouldnt make sense changing one word or even a letter in arabic would make a mess of the whole sentence, and that is why the main message of the quran has been perserved because there is no room for errors or mistakes because changing even one letter owould disort a sentence and the quran wheather u believe that is is a divine scripture or not is written in complete sentences.

latin is not.
Latin-derived languages are.
Arabic is spoken fluently mostly by Arabs and by some Muslims (who only speak it because they are Muslim).
There are probably more people fluent in Sanskrit-derived languages then Arabic or Latin-derived languages, if not then just as many.
There is absolutely nothing special about Arabic in comparison to other languages.
Only Muslims try to make it out to be something unique and special because thier holy book is in Arabic.

You and I both know all you're doing is trying to stir stuff up. You believe in your Qur'aan let us believe in our Bible. Don't try to talk about our Bible because you are not a Christian you are a Muslim. Stick to your book. We will stick to ours. Don't try to start a religious war here.
Peace!
