Brummies are the rudest people in Britain, a survey has revealed.And contrary to their aggressive image, Geordies are the politest, closely followed by Scousers.Researchers went undercover to measure the civility of residents in eight cities around the country, subjecting them to a series of "courtesy tests".

They checked whether shop assistants said please and thank you, and whether people going into public buildings held the door for those behind them.

Drivers were observed to see if they thanked those who let them into rush-hour traffic from side roads, while passers by were assessed for their willingness to stop and help someone who had dropped their shopping.

The research for Readers Digest magazine found that Britons overall were polite 59% of the time, but that in Newcastle the figure was 77%.

Liverpool came second with 70%, while Birmingham came bottom with residents managing common courtesy on just 43% of occasions.

The other cities tested were Exeter, Cardiff, London, Southampton and Edinburgh.

The north emerged as politer than the south in the tests, each of which was carried out ten times in each city.

Regional courtesy ratings:

1. Newcastle 77%
2. Liverpool 70%
3. Exeter 63%
4. Cardiff 61%
5. London 54%
6. Southampton 53%
7. Edinburgh 48%
8. Birmingham 43%

lol not another 1, u havnt read what all the critics have 2 say.. n e ways forget them... the results of that survey are totally bias, the days they performed the research on birmingham could have been a rainy ass day when no ones in the mood. the drivers dnt giv a sh*t an wana get home (the traffic gives u a migrane) ... depends on the day...the shop assistants jus wana get their friday night wage an get pissed.. and finally thers way 2 much generalisation... i cud use the same type sample survey 2 conclude some stupid assumptions... e.g. if i was 2 use a small sample of RD members i could conclude '99% of rd guys are good lukin'' of course which is bull cus it jus aint true cus iv only used a small sample.

Cuz they are.
Last time i went, i entered a Cafe, cuz i needed the bathroom. I looked around aimlessly to realise the place was being refurbished. Anyways out of no where, some ponsy White geezer was like "what u doin in here, get out"

i said is tht anyway to speak to a customer, to which he replies, "cant u see we are closed".

I say yeah i just realised tht, but the door was wide open so i came in, as u do. He seemed really defensive and began ushering me out, like he was trying to hide summut. The Rude SOB then says, "ur suppose to be courteos, *sp* when entering someone's cafe", so i said but i has only just entered ur shitty cafe and all i wanted to do was take a piss :rant:

I walked out and told the geezer to go fuck himself.

Anyways frm tht day, my perception of Londoner's has been bad. You guys are arrogant, rude, egotistical, and ur conversations skills never drift past "well I" or "ME ME ME". they all got there heads up each other's ass's and im glad they charge u loads to drive cars, and tht u get over charged for everything including bread n milk :rant:
