Im a muslim but ill be the first one to tell you our people get freaked out when this type of stuff happens.If you see playboy magazine sometimes they have some pretty bad cartoons of jesus in there but apparently they dont get stoned for that.If its anything like that islam everyone freaks out.I remember a few years back Nike made a shoe that had a design on it that was remotely similar to the letter Allah in arabic.Everyone made such a big deal about it that Nike had to pull the shoe and make an apology.

well of course there's reason to get pissed off about that, it's extremely offensive , first off it depicts the prophet as some sterotypical arab man and the fact that someone actually drew a sketch of the prophet (pbuh) is reason enough to get annoyed even if it was such a sterotype because in Islam its strongly forbidden to have any pictures or sketches of ANY of the prophets. that why its a big deal where as even if christians draw pics of jesus its ok because they've been drawing him for century's and its allowed in Christianity to depict god and jesus and anyone like that.

ShivaChrist - President Bush is not a religious figure for anyone to defend him.

Hazrat Mohammad (pbuh) was NEVER portaryed through pictures like Hazrat Isa was therefore, we can only imagine the way Hazrat Mohammad (pbuh) looked like and taking the mick out of our Prophet IS offensive to all muslims. If Simpsons take the mick out of Jesus then why don't Christians stand up for what is right? If Hindus Gods are being mocked on Simpsons why aren't Hindus standing their ground? Because we hold the respect of our Prophet we would go as far as we can to let our prophet get dissed by some cheap cartoonist who has no humour in himself than to mock other religions for self amusement.

If Muslims don't stand their ground now people would take it for granted and create fiascos like this more in the future, thinking Muslims don't care.

Shiva Christ- I think the questions were answered simply above.

President Bush is not a religious figure, he is simply a political figure that does not carry an emotional , now if it was Musharraf or some Muslim leader being depicted that way (and it always is) I wouldnt care. The fact that this is a Prophet of Islam, and such disrespect is highly condemned in Islam to any figure deemed important. So yeah, I hold the notion that it is extremely offensive.

To others above that think Christianity condones depiction of Jesus in artwork: It does not, iconoclasm is one of the reasons that the Western Church(Roman Catholic) and the Eastern Church (Greek, Syrian, Russian, Armenian Orthodox) separated.

Muslims- I think its the duty for Muslims to protest any depiction of Jesus in a negative light as well, because he is also considered a prophet in Islam. Also, please use correct grammar when arguing, you guys make us look stupid when you dont. u neva hear da prezidente talkin like dis in a dbate!InshAllah we'll follow through on that one.
