check with your local community masjid or Muslim community center, RD isnt exactly the ideal place to find out these kinda things.

Ramadan Mubarak!

i dont undertsand what all these funky molvis are upto, last night was a clear full moon, damn man there was even lunar eclipse last night, saudi started yesterday most of london etc did it today, no wonder the muslims can never unite, officially and going by lunar calender today was the first roza so people starting on wednesday have actually missed 1 day but i guess each mosque has its own rules

Some base it on calculations, while others base it on moon-sightings. Sometimes, the moon cannot be sighted due to low visibility, where calculations take place, but usually calculations sometimes do not guarantee the hilal (sighting of the moon)

What annoys me is when later everyone start arguing about when to celebrate Eid.
Technically it lasts 3 days so why does it turn into a freaking battle of who knows better than the other.

quikck ques first u got the Quran's quote then u got the prophets quote then u got Malcome x :sarb: , o n thee technology is modern enough to tell if the moon is there or not, i don't think clouds and stuff will disturb that.. And plus they saw the moon in saudi but every country wants to see there own WTF?

exactly, thats what i was thinking, i mean we are living in the 20th century the last time i checked, and wudnt it be easier when it comes to teh major decisions liek this if all the funky molvis jus agreed to go along with one mosque ? i mean just coz there might a big black cloud over manchester and birmingham etc and just coz they cant see the moon does it mean that that ramzan hasnt started for them ??

1. wat bout my quotes?

2. I was listening on the BBC world service on how scientists were saying, that the moon can be observed in space or watever, easily, through calculations and all the good stuff, but in order for Ramadan, or any other calendar based on earth, the observation must be made from the ground by the naked eye, so...it is difficult to spot it, since there was a lunar ecplipse for some
