View Full Version : Is it acceptable to laugh at other peoples misfortunes?!

September 12th, 2005, 12:00 PM
I think it's perfectly acceptable in most circumstances except when someone dies or some shit like that.

Like for example when someone falls over in the street I think it's fine to point and laugh just as long as you... :dunno:

Have you ever been in a situation when something serious happened and you... :kekeke: or  ??

Share your stories so we can all have a good ol' laugh at other peoples misfortunes

sadly enough i have, and i think the only reason i did is because its sudden and unexpected, looks funny and everything.

otherwise its not polite, especially if its part of a conversation and not something like a harmless fall or trip.

Exactly! :)

I mean, if I ever fell over in the street and broke my arse I wouldn't mind if most people had a chuckle coz thats exactly what I would do. There are certain individuals who if they laughed at me - I would get up and chase them with a knife, but I wouldn't mind at all if the general public took a little bit of happiness from my misfortune.

I also find it especially funny when rich people loose a lot of money.

I know what you mean. The falling or tripping over scenario was just an example really.

I'm talking about more serious stuff like... someone who tilts a can of fizzy drink too far and the fizzy refreshment goes up their nostrils and nearly chokes them, and everyone around them laughs their pants off when they should be helping the choking individual

Other people's misfortunes are a fabulous reason to laugh. For example... today my sister came home and told me her science teacher got stung in the head by a wasp, and the infection spread to both her eyes, which are now swollen up and she was in so much pain in the afternoon she fainted. My sister took a picture of her lying on the floor, eyes completely shut and huge and red.

 yeah people attending the throne are funny too. And totally about the mistaking people in the street thing, another bad one is when you're in a shop with someone and they're walking behind you, and you turn to talk to them but then realise they've fucked off somewhere and you're left telling a total stranger your bra size or summat. Wankers.

That happened to me a few times

I was shouting obscene swear words (in a friendly way) at this person who I thought was someone I know. But when they turned around and revealed a total stranger, I was thinking 'Oh shit!' - but I saved myself from a possible spanking buy shouting, 'damn he's gone round the corner, I'll get him next time' :)
