I wanted to design an arabic calligraphy tattoo and get it done in that style when i was in college, but didn't go ahead with it. a lot of my friends said it's not allowed.

drinking is strictly forbidden in islam... but i agree with you that a lot of 'muslim' teenagers/young adults (mainly those who go to college and uni) do drink like fishes. though you have to understand that just because some of these people drink, it doesn't mean what they're doin will be accepted under islamic law :no:

as for tattoos, well i once wanted to get one done across my back/shoulders... but after some discussion and advise from my friends and family about weather it's ok under islamic law, I decided not to get it done. the tattoo in my pic is photoshoped by the way :)

there are things in islam which are strictly forbidden because for various reasons, and many other things - such as art/music which are up for debate and discussion.

tattoos IMO are classified as a visual art form, and throughout islamic history there have been spectacular examples of islamic art in many different formats (especially architecture & design).

but the problem is that tattoos are permanently implemented into your skin and that's why most muslim people/scholars will tell you that it's not allowed in islam (there are other reasons as well) :dunno:

but if you've already got a tattoo then theres no point in criticizing you and debating it anymore because you didn't know at that time weather tattoos are allowed in islam.

but you do have to think about it now and find out for yourself from islamic sources wether it ok before you decide to get a new tattoo done :)

I've been designing tattoos for a few years and believe me that tattoo got an award for one of the best in 2004 at the Bmezine awards. The writing is the bad part but the picture is personal to whomever wants it.

Tis my favourite flower, its unique and beautiful... Rose is common, but a black rose is special... And to have it bleeding is to resemble a bleeding beauty, something so precious thats scorned :Oops: ... A little too deep for a tattoo, but thats me :D x

it says ALMAGHRIB, which is MOROCCO in arabic (where i'm from)... i used the stars for the dots cuz the moroccan flag has a star in the middle.
o n its on my wrist if u cant tell... i didnt take the pic with my whole hand cuz my nails need done baaaaaadly lolz :D
